Awesome Appetizers That Will Satisfy Your Hunger Deliciously

Sometimes you're kind of hungry, but maybe not for an entire meal. That happens a lot when you've been hanging out at our waterfront pool at the Lake of the Ozarks. You've worked up an appetite but it's not quite time to eat yet. Something delicious from Backwater Jack's appetizer menu is just the thing to satisfy your hunger! 


Backwater Jack's Appetizers
The appetizer menu at our Lake of the Ozarks waterfront bar & restaurant is filled with traditional favorites, succulent seafood, the biggest Crab Rangoon in the lake area, and so much more! Even if you are ready for lunch or dinner, it's going to be hard to resist enjoying one of these first. 

Wings
A dozen jumbo chicken wings fried to a golden brown and then tossed in your choice of our homemade sauces: Original Hot, Sweet Honey Jerk, or Half & Half.

West Key's Boiled Shrimp
Succulent shrimp boiled in Cajun spices, chilled and served with fresh-cut lemon and cocktail sauce.

Backwater's Buffalo Shrimp
Ten butterflied shrimp breaded and served with a side of Jack’s hot sauce.

Raw Oysters on the Half Shell
Served cold with fresh-cut lemons and cocktail sauce, by the dozen or half-dozen.

Chips & Salsa

Jack's Baked Nachos
A pile of tortilla chips topped with tomatoes, black olives, and onions, then smothered in shredded cheddar jack cheese and baked. You can order them with chicken, veggies, or seafood (shrimp, scallops, and crab meat.)


Chicken Tenders
These are hand-breaded to order. You’ll taste the difference! You can also try them HOT! Buffalo Style - hand-breaded then dipped in our special hot sauce.

Jack's Jumbo Jalapeno Poppers
Hand-stuffed & breaded jalapeno peppers filled with a crab/cream cheese mixture. Served with our house special spicy raspberry inferno sauce.

Ozark Onion Rings
Colossal yellow onion rings deep-fried to a golden brown.

Colossal Crab Rangoon
Four oversized wontons stuffed with Jack’s own crab/cream cheese mixture fried to golden brown & served with our homemade apricot sauce.


Stuffed Mushrooms
Large mushroom caps stuffed with our handmade crab/cream cheese mixture and then baked in white wine.

Jack's Red Beans & Rice
A homemade spicy mix of red beans, green peppers, onions, and sliced andouille sausage spiced with Cajun seasonings, simmered to perfection and served with wild rice & our sweet cornbread.

Jack's Quesadilla
A large flour tortilla shell stuffed with black olives, tomatoes, red and green onions, and shredded cheddar jack cheese, then grilled and served with sour cream and salsa. Inside you can add: veggies, chicken, or seafood (shrimp, scallops, & crab meat.)


Roasted Red Bell Pepper Hummus
House-blended hummus served with sweet green and red peppers, broccoli florets, and toasted blackened tortilla points.

Grouper Fingers
Our version of a hand-breaded filet in our secret honey breading and served with raspberry tartar sauce.

Grilled Chicken Tenders
Four chicken tenders marinated in a teriyaki glaze and grilled to juicy perfection.

Snow Crab Clusters
Nothing but the freshest snow crab clusters! Boiled hot and served with a tub of butter.


Sushi & Asian Grill Appetizers
You probably think that list is more than long enough to offer a multitude of delicious appetizer choices, but we don't' stop there! We've also got some wonderful "small bites" on the best sushi menu at the Lake of the Ozarks from our Sushi & Asian Grill down by the pool.

Edamame Hummus
Edamame Hummus and grilled pita. Vegetable cut-ups can be added for a small additional charge. 

Pork Gyoza
Six fried or steamed gyoza and a soy ginger vinaigrette.

Jumping Beans
Steamed edamame pod and kosher salt. 

Burning Lips Edamame
Steamed edamame pod and a garlic chili sauce.

Dancing Peppers
Grilled shishito peppers, parmesan garlic sauce, and Bonito flakes. (They move!) 

Kung Pao Chicken Bites
Fried chicken, Korean sweet chili, and peanuts. 

Chicken Lettuce Wrap
Grilled Chicken, chopped vegetables, garlic oyster sauce, and lettuce.


BWJ Nachos
Wonton chips, grilled chicken, mozzarella, pepper jack cheese, salsa, jalapeno, and black bean aioli. You may also substitute pulled pork and/or add guacamole for a small charge. 

BWJ Lobster Dip
Lobster, Kewpie mayo, cream cheese, garlic, and wonton chips.

Berkshire Sausage
Sausage and stone ground mustard.

Seaweed Salad

Crabby Basket
Dungeness crab and pepper jack filled crab rangoons with spicy ginger vinaigrette.
