3 Fun Thanksgiving Themes to Try This Year!
At the Lake of the Ozarks' best waterfront bar, we're always looking for new and fun ways to spice up your favorite meals. Thanksgiving food doesn't have to be solely about turkey and stuffing! Why not take the best parts of Thanksgiving - the food, the family, the atmosphere - and adapt it to other cultures? Check out these fun-filled ideas to take your holiday celebrations to a whole new level!
Our neighboring country has a rich history of food and culture. Why not celebrate your Thanksgiving with a Mexican twist? Instead of a wide assortment of turkey, ham, stuffing, and cranberry sauce, you can have a blend of chorizo, chicken, tacos, burritos, and queso dip! Take your celebrations to the next level by breaking out your best sombrero and Poncho Villa outfit and wearing the costumes while you feast. Afterward, you can have traditional flan and churros in lieu of apple pie.
Asian cuisine has been growing and evolving for centuries. Try celebrating your Thanksgiving with some of Asia's traditional dishes. The Hot Pot is always a popular choice. In this dish, thinly sliced meats and seafood, along with greens like bok choy and cabbage, are thrown together in a pot of boiling water and cooked directly on the dinner table. When it's ready, dish it out to your friends and family and load up the Hot Pot with more ingredients. Second helpings are encouraged!
Try a Hawaiian Thanksgiving with a thick slice of Hawaiian steak - in other words, SPAM®! Hawaiians consume more SPAM® (nearly 7 million cans) than any other state in our nation. Instead of a hearty 7-course Thanksgiving dinner, you can try lighter Pacific Island dishes with seafood, fruits, and of course, SPAM®. You could even encourage everyone to dress up in Hawaiian T-shirts and hula skirts and sing "Over the Rainbow" to really set the mood!
No matter how you decide to celebrate your holiday, we hope you have a wonderful time. Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at the best waterfront restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks!
